This is just a plain awesome battle and is helped by the constantly adapting landscape. And then, a massive cannon appears on the front, firing a huge caliber shell for more tension. It's just plain fun destroying all the mini-turrets as they starting spamming their shots everywhere, but it is still able to be dodged.

As this massive behemoth trudges along, it's design really shows how zany some of the boss fights get, and this no exception. How am I going to stop some big mean mother hubbard from tearing me a structurally superfluous new behind ? The answer. While still not perfect, it began to have a lot more creative and engaging fights.

Metal Slug 2/X improved on the boss formula from the original game. Dodging all of it's attacks just does not feel satisfying and it becomes more of a race to kill the boss instead of enjoying the fight. The concept isn't horrible, but it's execution is lacking. Visually, it's not very appealing either. It spams the landmines all over the battlefield and fires it's insta-fire laser rail-cannon with almost no time to react. Something about it feels pretty off, and I dislike the concept of constantly firing downwards at bosses. The unique landscape of the battle allows for different tactical positions to tackle the boss, and it's always fun luring all the homing missiles and leaping over them/weaving between them. All his attacks are well telegraphed, and you have an anti-aircraft gun to deal extra damage. Morden will attack with his helicopter by raining bombs on you, attacking with his minigun, firing his bazooka and firing a giant array of homing missiles.

I think they were a bit weak compared to the upcoming games, but that is to be expected with the first game.īest Boss : Hi-Do (Boss of Final Mission)Īfter battling through Morden's hideout fortress, and a tension building sea crossing to reach him, we get a very solid boss fight. The bosses were pretty decent, not the best but still pretty serviceable. Personally, for me, the original Metal Slug was a great game that started this epic franchise. \*Spoilers for Bosses from Metal Slug to Metal Slug 7/XX*\**įeel free to comment below on your picks.
